Degreed isn't slowing down
Individuals and organizations can discover content, build skills, and certify expertise
Degreed provides a better, smarter, faster way to develop and measure your team’s skills, so your business can always stay ready for the future. I legit took that from the homepage of their website.
Let me see if I can breakdown what I think they do:
Productivity - they look to connect individuals and businesses with online resources all in one platform. Not just a Learning Management System (LMS) but they bring in videos, books, podcasts, experts and more.
Data Science - they tailor each development to the person; so I would receive a personalized environment that looks to grow skills that fit my trajectory.
Management Insights - the Executive and Management layers of the organization will receive reporting on what skills their team is leveling up; this hopefully would allow for better outcomes as we look to find job-fit and skills that can translate to other areas of the business.
Why I’m bullish on Degreed:
They’ve been around since 2012 and most recently raised a series of funding (capital + debt) in June 2019 to the tune of $75MM (all in they’ve raised $153MM according to Crunchbase)
Jump Capital is an investor since 2016 and has followed on investments; that generally means they’re happy with the trajectory of the business
While they have offices in San Francisco, New York City, and the Netherlands - it is also important that they have an office in Salt Lake City. This has become a smaller version of Silicon Valley.
The current CEO (Chris McCarthy) started out as COO since November 2013; so he has an idea of all of the functional areas of the business and the levers available.
They have a litany of enterprise logos on their Nascar slide: Citi, Home Depot, Cigna, Capital One, Atlassian, etc. (there is also a mix of industry including software organizations)
They support remote work (not just now but it looks like the position is remote-based)
