AppDynamics provides real-time monitoring, business insights, anomaly detection, and end-to end visibility into your application stack. They’ve really coined Application Performance Management (APM). This is the first that I’m hearing the phrase APM, but I’m buying it.
If I tried to break down what they do, here’s my take:
They want to help monitor, measure and optimize your entire application experience - so think about user-flows, inventory management, servers, hardware, etc. - this all needs to be working in harmony across several environments for complex enterprise brands
AppDynamics is here to ensure your tech delivers peak performance for your customers during these unpredictable times - again the key theme I keep reading about is the complexity
Much of their homepage talks about optimizing experience and performance - they want to be sure and provide analytical data to help drive design experience for users while also optimizing how the technology is working on the back-end
(I hope all of this is accurate - again, just my take as I have done my research)
Here’s why I liked AppDynamics while I was researching:
They were acquired by CISCO in 2017 for $3.7 billion as part of CISCO’s goal of dominating in the IoT space. I think they still operate as a separate entity, meaning they still have autonomy for go-to-market, customer experience, etc.
They have mega logos on their Nascar slide (I’m sensing a trend that I repeat this) - sure everybody has ‘big’ logos, but that breeds confidence and ‘quality assurance’ when enterprise brands deploy your technology
Last year, AppDynamics was named as the “fastest-growing APM software company” in the world, and they have been named as a “Gartner Magic Quadrant leader for APM Suites” for the past 6 years.
Given that the world is moving to more and more digital means, this type of software will be needed by large enterprise organizations to ensure they deliver optimized experiences
They have offices across the world but support remote work (they even call it out as “Find Your Perfect Commute”; seems like that is trying to set a positive tone from the start)
Find more about their culture check here and their job postings using this link. Looks like they have several openings at CSM as well as Senior Leadership.
